A Poem for Kendal Calling (written when I was Poet In Residence 2010)

Travel north

Seek the peace

Hold a moment

In a field

Where the sound of the sunset silences the sound of a song in the trees

Travel south

if your not “beautiful” and in need of a hug or a love

Learn to smile through rain or shine

Through grass

Through dust

Through mud

Travel east

Escape the streets

Bad movies and frank statements

Enjoy the buzz the rush the crush

A million miles from the nearest pavement

Travel west

Show and tell of respect

Prepare to be dumbfounded

Watch the sky at night by candle light

Travel home feeling much more grounded
